Club X : Stefan March

Book Description:

Stefan March lives for a good time. Born into wealth, he sees everything in terms of what he can have, especially women. So far, life has denied him nothing and no one. When he meets his newest bartender, he instantly knows who his next conquest will be, but Shay's not like the usual women he collects. To get her, he'll have to be more than just the player he's always been.

Shay Callahan is beautiful, determined, and intelligent. She's got plans for her life, and they don't include getting sidetracked by a man, and certainly not her wealthy player boss. Her job at Club X is for one thing—money to fund her education—but if she can make Stefan March see he's not God's gift to women, all the better. She never expects to find out there's more to him than meets the eye.

As different as day and night, can these two see past who they think they are to find love?

So, let's see.. Stefan is the youngest March brother. He lives his life carefree, and doesn't play by anyone's rules. He loves life, women and booze and not in that particular order. He does as he pleases until one certain new bartender joins the ranks of Club X.

Shay Callahan wants to earn enough money to get to do her research project, and nothing is going to stop her, not even her new handsome boss. She, like Stefan, isn't looking for a long term relationship and picks men that she can easily control and not worry about. She herself is an admitted player and will do just about anything to bring Stefan down to his knees.

The challenge has been set. Who can outmaneuver who in the game of wills, and sexual tension. When these two finally get together sparks fly and the chemistry is to die for. The heat in this book is scorching hot. Just when you think it can't get any hotter it does.

Even though, there are really explosive moments in this book, you find out that there is another side to Stefan, and at times it's almost heartbreaking. The back story makes everything come together beautifully and you find out that there is more to Stefan and Shay than just your average players. Not a lot of people liked Stefan, but I thought he was a great character even in the first book. K.M. Scott did a marvelous job redeeming him in this book, and I can't wait to read the third installment of this series.

The Story Of Awkward

Book Description: Book ONE in the stand-alone EMBRACE YOURSELF series.

A poignantly humorous New Adult romance with a twist. Embrace your awkward. Be unique. Change your fairytale ...

If you are looking for a happy book about beautiful people, this is the wrong story.
If you are looking for a narrative without emotion, without regrets, and without mistakes, this is definitely the wrong story.

This is by no means an uncomplicated tale about uncomplicated people. It is by no means sweet or light.

This story is ugly.
This story is complicated.
This story is emotional.
This story is tragic.

In short, this story is about being awkward.

Peregrine Storke is an artist with an odd sketchbook full of pictures she’s drawn since she was a child. It is a book full of strange sketches and awkward characters, for there is no better way to hide from bullying and life than to create a world of your own. With a stroke of her pencil, she has given life to a spectacled princess, a freckle-nosed king, a candy loving troll, a two-horned unicorn, and a graceless fairy.

At nineteen, Peregrine leaves her home, her sketchbook, and awkwardness behind. But what happens when something goes wrong in the world of Awkward? Trapped inside of her complex realm with the bully she thought to leave behind, Peregrine discovers there is nothing worse than falling for your own villain.

As in the description, this story is ugly. It is complicated. It is emotional. It is tragic. But what it fails to mention is that it is a brilliant, heartfelt, amazingly beautiful story.

When I picked this up, I didn't know what I was going to find. I read the description and thought it might be a YA read. Which is fine. I don't mind reading those, but what I found was much much more!

It is a poignant story about self worth. How to accept your awkwardness and embrace it. Those imperfections is what makes you, you. That beauty comes from within and with that beauty, comes strength. With it's quirky characters and lovely leading lady, it made for an exceptional fun, fast read. Everyone at one point or another can relate to this story. I know, I sure can... I could go on and on about how wonderful the story was, but I won't. I will just say, that the story will speak for itself. EVERYONE should read it.

Favorite quotes: - There are so many of them highlighted throughout the book I don't think I want to give them all away, but here are some that I think should be shared.

"Great endowments often announce themselves in youth in the form of singularity and awkwardness" ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"True sorrow like true happiness comes from love"

"This world is built on awkwardness, on the idea that there is someplace where it's okay to be different. Where it's okay not to be perfect," the troll said. "This world lives in more than one imagination. It was simply your hand that finally gave it a face."

"Even when we grow up, the child remains. It's the child that shapes the adult. What happens to you when you are young shapes what you become later. Whether you think you belong here or not is beside the point. The little girl that drew Awkward still lives inside of you."

"It isn't about being awkward. It's about not being ashamed to be awkward. It's about embracing what makes us different. Perfection and Stereotype are threats to that."

"Love isn't roses. It's those little square caramels and a root beer from the gas station because he knows that's your favorite snack. It's watching a musical with you without groaning. It's handing you your glasses at night because he knows you're too blind to find your way to the bathroom without them. Love is awkward."

"Foster's hand covered mine on his arm. "If I'm being forced to join your war, do me a favor." He glanced at Nimble. "Make her dust taste like a quarter pounder with cheese."

"There's nothing worse than having someone you've villainized admit he was wrong. There's nothing worse than admitting someone's words had done more than tear you down, they'd made you angry enough to fight back, There's nothing worse than having to forgive someone whose words gave you strength."

"Remember, the way we perceive ourselves is often nothing like what we really are," he said."

"Your creations - the princess, troll, fairy, and worm..." Foster said suddenly. "I was wrong about them. They may not look like much, but they have the heart of lions."

"Her heart had been broken. Love could be blind and unforgiving. It often made us feel like we had to change in order to be loved."

"That awkward moment when you realize running away from life doesn't mean life won't pack its bags and follow."

"Because avoiding the things that hurt us doesn't fix us," I told her. "There's only so long you can hide from life. Don't worry about being enough for Prince Dash. Worry about being enough for you. In the end, that's what counts. He or someone else will love you more for that."

"My feet carried me away from them, my heart and head needing the distance. There are moments when tears are all you have, when crying releases everything and leaves you fresh."

"I like that I'm different. I want to be okay with it. I love that I have friends who love me for who I am."

"True courage isn't about being brave. It's about being real. It's about being able to admit our weaknesses so that we can turn them into strengths."

"Everyone belongs somewhere, even if it's not in your perfect world."

"True beauty is about being happy"

5 HUGE stars for this amazing book.

A very sweet story

Book Description: Jason Sloan is known as Harper's Crossing's resident Romeo, and he's never had to work too hard to live up to that nickname. With his easygoing charm, whiskey-colored brown eyes, and sinfully sexy half smile, women just seem to fall all over themselves when he's around.

Well...most women, anyway. Katie Lawson's the one woman who isn't putty in his hands, and she's the only one he's ever wanted in his arms.

Katie Lawson left Harper's Crossing in the middle of the night ten years ago, immediately after her high school boyfriend Nick's funeral. She left behind all memories of Nick, and she left behind her life-long best friend, Jason Sloan.

Now she's on the fast track to junior partner at one of San Francisco's top law firms. She's made a life for herself that's all about maintaining order and sticking to the rules. Rule #1 is keeping herself way too busy to think about all that she ran away from. If she can do that, after all, she can keep everything under control.

But that rule is about to be broken. She's headed back home to be the maid of honor in Nick's little sister's wedding. It's time to face the truth she's been avoiding all these years, the same one that sent her running ten years ago - that maybe she didn't lose her first love the summer after high school. Maybe her first love has been waiting for her all this time, at home in Harper's Crossing.

**Author's Note: Each book in The Crossroads Series can be read as a stand-alone**

What a sweet, sweet story this was for me. Katie is a lawyer from San Francisco who has to go back home for her best friend's wedding. Unfortunately, Katie gets tons of panic attacks and she gets them often. She hasn't been home in 10 years and when she does go back the ever present attacks come on like a tidal wave, especially when one Jason Sloan is near by.

Jason Sloan has loved Katie since they were 5, but events lead him to not share those feelings for her, until now. Katie is back after 10 long years and he is not going to skip this opportunity to let her know how he feels.

This book was incredibly well written, with flashes from the past that let the reader know what events happened and what led to the current situation these two find themselves in. There are twists and turns, and the authors lead you through them exquisitely. When you think it's one thing, its another. It was incredibly witty, and charming. Once I got reading it, I didn't want to put it down.

Great Job Ladies!

Lone House

Book Description: Sometimes a job offer can lead you in a new and wonderful direction, sometimes it can leave you screaming in the dark. Is there such a thing as an offer that is too good to be true? Or is it merely that one needs to adapt and look for the pleasures it may bring.

Kate is a single woman in a dead end job; she dreams of changing her life’s direction, but until now she has done nothing about it. When she finally does, her desire to switch paths brings her to Lone House. Its name does this building no justice at all - only ‘Lone’ is accurate. The house stands isolated and empty; no one remembers ever seeing the owners and they have arranged for house sitters to live there. But these house sitters never seem to stay very long.
What secrets does the house shelter within its grounds? Will the next sitter go the way of the previous ones, where-ever that was?

Kate is to be the next resident at Lone House and soon finds things are not always as they seem. Some things are even better. The old house harbours secrets and lustful desires of its own. The question is: Will Kate adapt to her new life, taking advantage of what it offers, or will she flee back to the life she had before? One thing is for sure; everyone in contact with Kate and Lone House will find their lives changed for ever.

What to say about this book.. Hmm.. If you have read any of Cole's books, you know that he writes fantastically twisted and off the wall kind of books. That's why I love them. This one took me a bit by surprise. In the beginning, I thought it was going to be a mundane kind of book, with a little ghost inside the house haunting Kate (the heroine). What I got was not the typical ghost haunting read. LOL! I don't even think it was a ghost... I am STILL wondering what the heck it was. But in very Cole fashion he leads the reader into a very twisted tale of eroticism and kinkery (is that even a word? Well it is for now). Cole kept you on your toes, and you didn't know which way was up, down, sideways, sleeping or not. I was pleasantly surprised with it. Even though, I did want to know more about the "house guest" that visits Kate at night. Great short read!

Cold Fire

Book Description: From NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author, Marata Eros....

Zoe threatens to break it off with Darrell because he doesn't have another firehouse escapade in the works. If he can't bring it—she can't stay.

Darrell brings out the big guns and it sends Zoe into a funk until Dara gives her a perfect foil for their stagnate love life.

When Darrell's possessive streak gets the best of him, he thinks he'll show Zoe who's boss. Instead, he receives way more than he bargained for.

Oh boy! Marata brings it AGAIN! When I first started reading this I KNEW that it was going to be hot... but the heat level keeps rising with every turn of the page, until the very end. Zoe is bored with her love life with Darrell and is thinking of walking away, of course Darrell is not going to let that happen. He comes up with a plan to get Zoe to stay in the relationship. What he doesn't know is that Zoe, with the help from her BFF Dara, turn the tables on him. I can not put what happens into this review because it will spoil it for everyone. Just know it's the unexpected and rather deliciously naughty. I absolutely loved every single minute of it! Great job Marata, I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

5 stars for this deliciously wicked naughty tale.
