Sebastian McCarthy Obsession Part II

Oh Mr. Sebastian McCarthy.. How I love you!

Since I wrote about how I fell in love, lust, whatever you want to call it.. with Sebastian in my first post, I will continue with my obsession with this... the second book he features in: Tempted by the Moon by Morgan Fox.

Sebastian was not immediately in this second book because as the Alpha male, he's gone to hunt down some weirdo bad guy. Figures that the object of my affections would be out hunting the bad guys. Sheesh, Like he has nothing better to do. When he returns from trying to be the hero, he comes back a little different... he is ALL ALPHA, and I do mean ALL ALPHA. The poor man comes back infected with some virus (Say what?! Oh hell NO! Grrr! So not nice Morgan!) and becomes this really aggressive beast - pun intended here - that is barely controlled. Oh boy.. His demeanor was off the charts and lets not forget the bedroom scenes. They were incredibly hot!! Well, of course, this is Sebastian we are talking about here! By mid-book, my boyfriend.. I mean Sebastian, is locked in a room (GASP!!! No fucking way!) because he becomes TOO much of a threat to Brie (have I told you guys that i wasn't too fond of her? Yup totally jealous of a fictional character!). Really? There is never enough of this man. Not in my fantasies anyway... *here is the day dreaming / sighing part that always happens when I think of him. How embarrassing!*

Ok, where was I? Oh yeah.. Locked and chained, did I mention that? No...? Hot, sexy as fuck man chained.. CHAINED in a room, all by his lonesome self.. Good grief! Let me at him! Sorry, I have to get a grip here. So, Hmm yes, Sebastian is locked in a room while Brie, Jonah, and a few others that you will meet in this book try and figure out how to cure Sebastian. It takes a bit of work, but he pulls through.. I can't tell you HOW he gets better, but I have to say that it was freaking HOT! Even the characters that were "watching" got a little hot and bothered. It sure the hell didn't bother me. Well, maybe the whole Brie business, but I guess I will have to tolerate her since he loves her so.**Putting my kitten claws away now**

If you guys want to take a peek at my obsession, and his on-going saga, then by all means, grab Morgan Fox's book and read away! Here is the link!

Enjoy!!

Everything and the Moon

Blurb:
It was indisputably love at first sight. But Victoria Lyndon was merely the teenaged daughter of a vicar. . .while Robert Kemble was the dashing young earl of Macclesfield. Surely what their meddlesome fathers insisted must have been true-that he was a reckless seducer determined to destroy her innocence. . . and she was a shameless fortune hunter. So it most certainly was for the best when their plans to elope went hopelessly awry.

Even after a seven-year separation, Victoria-now a governess-still leaves Robert breathless. But how could he ever again trust the raven-haired deceiver who had shattered his soul? And Victoria could never give her heart a second time to the cad who so callously trampled on it the first. But a passion fated will not be denied, and vows of love yearn to be kept. . . even when one promises the moon.

Remember how I said in an earlier post that the librarian pointed me in another direction while I waited for Eloisa's books to arrive? Well, she pointed me in this direction and I have never looked back. This is not the first book from Julia Quinn that I read. It was actually "Minx" and after reading Minx I ended up falling head over heels in love with Julia and her characters. From Minx came the sassy, smart mouthed Henrietta who never followed the rules and the devastatingly dashing "Dunford" - previously featured in Splendid, and Dancing at Midnight - who now had to take care of a piece of property he wasn't expecting. Of course, Henry didn't make it easy for him but he wasn't willing to give up. I ended up buying Minx and it was read and re-read over and over again. That book was well loved. Needless to say that it is an excellent read and it brought me to: Everything and the Moon (one of the MANY MANY books that I adore). I know, I know. Since I didn't know the sequence of her books at the time, I just kind of picked up anything I could get my hands on. I looked up Julia on her website and saw that she had many books published already and I had a lot of catching up to do. Oh boy!! The librarian had her work cut out for her!! I read this book, and it turned out to be one of my favorites, along with "The Viscount Who Loved Me", "The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever", "To Catch an Heiress", and "Dancing at Midnight".

So, Everything and the Moon reached my hot little hands, and I couldn't put it down. I read it in a few hours. I cried, I laughed and because like miss Julia, I'm a bit of a science geek, I found her scientific observations rather cute. Yes, yes, total nerd that I am.. I really appreciated that side of her. Victoria and Robert's story kept me on my toes, wondering what was going to happen next. Will they ever get past all of the hurt and misunderstandings brought up by their fathers? Would they get their happily ever after? I can't tell you, but what I can tell you is that if you do NOT pick up Julia's books you are doing yourself a disservice. These are absolutely stunning! A great read for the beach, or any given time.  Please check her out at your local book store, library, e-book retailer, you don't want to miss out!

Gypsy Brothers Series

SYNOPSIS:

**Please note this book is a dark romance and deals with serious themes.*

Every day for six years, I used to pray that I would find my way back to the boy I loved.

Until finally, one day, I did.

But that’s the funny thing about life. Nothing good ever lasts, not for me, anyway. You think you’re the one with the power, at least I did, but then I got careless. One tiny mistake, and now I am powerless to stop what comes next.

People think money equals power, but all the money in my bank account, the dirty notes laundered clean that my father left for me, are useless.

Money does not equal power. Power is held by the one with the knife in his hand, tracing shallow cuts into your skin.

Power is held by the one who owns you.

I had power once.

Now, I have nothing.

*Part five in a seven part series*

If you are looking for a really dark, twisted, and oh so fabulous tale of lies, intrigue, sex, and let's face it violence, then this is for you! I absolutely love this series. It's hard hitting in every sense of the word. This is Lili's newest book in her seven part series, and it was amazing! It follows Julie's story of revenge against the people who violated her in every sense of the word. In this books she is captured by Dornan the patriarch of the Gypsy Brother's family, and is tortured within an inch of her life. This man is pure evil, and I think he would make even Satan shudder with his foulness. She spends three months in a room, wanting and waiting for the bliss that death would bring, and accepting what her fate may be. But with the torture that she has to endure, she is still that feisty little hot ticket and gets her digs in whenever she can. YAY JULIE!!! This character is truly a fighter and even though she thought to give up, she never did. There are twists and turns and revelations that only Lili St. Germain could master! I really, REALLY can't wait until her next book comes out in September. The book was exceptionally well written, and it takes you on fast paced roller coaster ride of emotions that will probably leave you rung out afterwards. I am giving this book my 5 star rating, because it deserves nothing less! Great job!

Here is the link to book #5

I really hope you pick up this series starting with the first one "Seven Sons" Which is still currently free on Amazon.

Until next time!

Finding Phoenix

According to Wikipedia: In Greek mythology, a phoenix or phenix (Greek: φοῖνιξ phoinix) is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. The phoenix was subsequently adopted as a symbol in Early Christianity. While the phoenix typically dies by fire in most versions of the legend, there are less popular versions of the myth in which the mythical bird dies and simply decomposes before being born again. Herodotus, Lucan, Pliny the Elder, Pope Clement I, Lactantius, Ovid, and Isidore of Seville are among those who have contributed to the retelling and transmission of the phoenix motif.

In the historical record, the phoenix "could symbolize renewal in general as well as the sun, time, the empire, metempsychosis, consecration, resurrection, life in the heavenly Paradise, Christ, Mary, virginity, the exceptional man, and certain aspects of Christian life".

So what does that have to do with my blog today? Well, you can say that this author has been bringing life to books one right after another, and one better than the next. I found Mrs. Red Phoenix (hence the very cool picture above) during one of my many freebie buys. I think it was the "Blissfully Snowbound" book that I had first, and I also had "In 9 days". I didn't think much of it at the time, so I kept collecting not knowing I had these two treasures in my hands already. As usual, I wanted something to read and landed on Blissfully Snowbound. I read it, and oh boy...! Who knew being snowed in could be so much fun! Not only that, the inventive ways of using snow still makes me giggle. I went to the kindle store to see if I could find the sequel and there it was! I picked it up and then the third. HA! After I gobbled those up, I read In 9 days. Talk about a tear jerker. I loved it! I talked about it at work for DAYS! Sorry guys. Ok, I'm not. It was such a sweet story that I couldn't help it. :) After those I read Loving Amy and found that I had some of that series already stashed in my kindle. Let the games begin! Holy shit were they spicy! The journey of Troy and Amy had me picking up the rest of Red's books. I HAD to know what happened. Needless to say it wasn't a disappointment.

Now, I know I am naming a lot of books, but like I said, Red has been entertaining us for a little bit, and true to her word, she pumps out these amazing stories rather quickly. THANK GOD! So from Loving Amy to Amy's Choice, came another heart pounding, delicious series about a young woman finding her true self in a school for submissive's. If you know Red's book, you know who I am talking about. Yes, Indeed! Her Brie series. HOLY CRAP! I've never read anything like these books before. I mean, I've read erotica before, but not with such emotion written in each and every page. Like anything else, I was tentative in reading this series because I was so enamored with the previous books and the characters. But I took a leap of faith and from reading Red's posts and the reviews, I went ahead and got them. Yeap, like her previous books, I was hooked. I patiently awaited each and every single one of them, could not read them fast enough when I got them, and then anxiously waited for the next one. In between, she produced other stories as the conclusion to Blissfully Snowbound, 9 days and counting, Varick (a very HOT and YUMMY vampire) as well as countless other titles, she also continued her Brie Series (YAY!!). The After Graduation series follows the story of Brie and her Dom, well...after the graduation. Uh huh! I can't even begin to describe what goes on there. Let's just say it was great fun! Red continues to grace us with her talents and her amazing books. Just like the mythical bird, she will bring new life to characters that we will fall in love with (at least this girl will) over and over again. She is truly a wonderful person who cherishes her fans, and I really appreciate that about her. So what are you waiting for? Go pick up her books! You can find her titles here: Red Phoenix on Amazon

Enjoy!!

Until Next Time!

To Love A Thief

When I first started this post, I got really frustrated because everything I wanted to say was such a mess in my head. There is so much floating in there that I can't seem to get things straight enough to make a coherent sentence. This author seems to do that to me all of the time, even KNOWING that she is so wonderfully nice, I still have a hard time. When I first read her story I immediately e-mailed her. I wrote this really long letter, and I am sure she thought I was just as crazy as I did for writing it. She was very nice about it, and even wrote me back -OMG!- I wrote several others along with my thoughts about her new releases. I have no qualms about writing e-mails as silly as I may sound sometimes, but this is entirely something different.

She is such an amazing author, that she frazzles me. She is also a wonderful person aside from being such an amazing author (did I mention that already? It deserves repeating). I get tongue tied when I have to write about her or to her. So here goes *taking a deep breath*.

To Love a Thief is the first book that I read from author Julie Anne Long, and still my all time favorite of hers (still waiting for that autographed copy Julie! LOL! Sorry, inside joke). The Perils Of Pleasure coming a close second, and I do mean CLOSE.

This story reminded me a little bit of "My Fair Lady", a great movie btw. Gideon is the brilliant barrister who likes to help "non-profitable" clients, while he is trying to snare the affections of a wealthy bride. Lily is an orphaned pick pocket struggling in the rough streets of London, trying to provide for herself and her sister. Until one day Lily gets caught, and guess who is there to help her? Oh yes! Dreamy Gideon! He helps her out, but the help comes with a price. She will have to be the object of his desire and help "snare" that wealthy bride. What they don't realize is that sometimes a thief will steal something more valuable than a watch, they can steal your heart. They both learn what it is to follow your heart instead of doing what needs to be done or what is expected of you.

Her characters come to life with every page you read. Julie has the ability to write beautifully orchestrated scenes and characters that make you feel their frustrations, their sadness, their joys, and their triumphs. You laugh, cry, smile at the silly jokes and witty banter. There are not enough adjectives to describe how wonderful Julie and her writing is. She has a knack of making me smile with every story she writes, but this one topped all of them! The cast of memorable, yet quirky characters touched my heart in every way. When you pick up one of Julie's books, you can't seem to put it down! Sheer brilliance, if I do say so myself! If you like a bit of humor with your historical romances, these are the books to look for! I HIGHLY recommend them to you.

Catching The Westbound

This book was recommended by a very close and dear friend. I was very hesitant to read it at first, because at the time of the recommendation I was not doing so well emotionally and I did NOT want to read a book that was sad, or correction had sad parts in it. I did however, pick it up and left it on my TBR pile. This friend kept talking about it and how the characters were wonderful especially R.J., the main character of the story. She also mentioned that the book was written with an Appalachian dialect. "What the hell does that mean?" I thought to myself. I know that I have read some Scottish romances that were written with a Scottish brogue that were hard to read, but I wasn't exactly sure what an Appalachian dialect sounded like. I even tried to YouTube it. LOL! Anyways, this book sat on my TBR file for MONTHS and since I promised said friend that I would read it eventually, I kept my promise. One day, I read it.... and it was AMAZING! She wasn't kidding when she said it was a great book!

Here is the book blurb:

He came into this world with two distinctive qualities—an extraordinary vision and an indomitable spirit, but at the age of ten years old, R.J. Watkins was banished from his small Appalachian community after being unjustly accused of igniting a mining accident. With a little help from fellow riders of the rails, R.J. learned how to survive on his own, but eventually his train came to rest with the Benton and Walters Best Show in America, where R.J. cultivated his unusual talents.

At seventeen, R.J. answered another whistle call of destiny, and he met the powerful McClennan family. Like a dazzling display of fireworks to their fourth of July picnic, R.J. provided the perfect blend of flavor for their family that had long since grew stale. But when he had hard time adjusting to the lavish extremes of the East Coast high society, R.J. learned to navigate their foreign world by completely transforming himself. A metamorphosis so complete that within a few short years he was the talk of the town, a man he barely recognized. Still all the talk was for naught because with the closing bell on a single autumn day in 1929, the McClennan fortune, which took generations to amass, was gone.

To stop the head-on collision with destitution, McClennan’s eldest son, Cosmo, made a deal with a devil, but it fell upon R.J. to pay the dues. No longer able to afford the luxury of other’s opinions, R.J. shed his finer sensibilities and used every trick he learned along the way to save his new family. Will his efforts be enough or ultimately destroy them?

From majestic corners hidden deep within the mountains to New York City’s finest ballrooms, Catching the Westbound chronicles the triumphs and tragedies of R.J. Watkins, a boy who came from nothing but with unparalleled determination, will, and resilience became the last great pioneer of industry.

After a lifetime of traveling paths of decadence and despair, by grace alone, he discovered the road that would lead him home.

The author said it best when she said this story is about "unparalleled determination, will and resilience". The story takes you from young R.J's life at home, to being the outcast of the community after an accident occurs.

"He realized that he had just saved a whole mess of men from dying, but instead of feeling good, he felt more alone and afraid than ever."

"That hain't true, daddy! I didn't have nothin' to do with that collapse. I was just tryin' to help." R.J. vehemently denied."

"You've gotta git from this place. Git goin' now! And promise, you goddamn promise me right now, R.J. that hain't no matter what, you won't ever come back heya." Robert Sr. hissed severely."

He takes himself away from the home he has ever known with a little help from his tag-along best friend Benny. The two embark in a journey filled with hope and uncertainty. The banter between these two young boys had a lighthearted feel, which made the book a little softer and not so sad, but then again tragedy strikes while on their journey as hobos (yes, you read correctly, hobos).

"Through out the next day, R.J. felt twinges of unease as if someone was practicing the jig over his grave."

"He felt the terror, but something else was churning his insides making them feel curdled and spoilt. It was rage, a killing rage.."

After their stint as hobos, the boys end up being members of the illustrious Benton and Walters Circus. They grow into young men, hard workers, and learn about "life's passions".

"For several moments Prof looked chagrined then he slowly smiled, with a chuckle he answered, "It's my passion."

"It's that thing that will drive you. Always right in front of you, but just out of your reach, you'll spend many hours day dreaming and sleepless nights thinking about how you can obtain it. Even knowing that once it's in your hands, you'll still want more."

R.J. Finds more tragedy while living the circus life with his friend and ends up in the East Coast, where he meets the McClennan's, and his life takes yet another turn.

"The only thang it tells me is y'all are a mess of idiots thinkin' you can change me into something I'm a not,"

"I've been on my own so long I cain't take to the ideal of bein' beholden to you or anyone else."

"City life will grow on you," McClennan quickly said sensing R.J. was softening."

And that's when he meets Emmaline, Mr. McClennan's daughter. I won't give it all away but there is a love story so strong involving Emmaline and R.J. that it would make even the hardest man fall down to his knees. I didn't care for Emmaline too much, maybe it's because R.J. was such a lovable character. You see him go from a young child who has seen and dealt with too much, to a hardworking adolescent, to an astounding, courageous man and all you want to do is hug him throughout the whole book. Even though I didn't care for Emmaline she was an integral part of the story. So I will leave you with some dialog from their first meeting which had me in stitches.

"Hey wait! Where you headin'? Us carny's aren't so good at readin'; maybe you can help me with them thar big words."

"I'll be in my room iffen you change your mind about helpin' me. Probably neckkid. Sometimes I like to read neckkid," he called out."

Now, I've only shown you little tidbits from a quarter of the book, I REALLY REALLY hope you pick this one up! This was such an AMAZING story that my review will do NO justice to it. But in all honesty guys, this one is a keeper. I have it on my kindle and if someone asks me what I would recommend -that's not a sappy love story or trashy novel- this is the book I usually tell them to get. It's an awe inspiring story, of never giving up, of dreaming big and facing those challenges head on. By then end of the book I was in tears (a good thing) and had a HUGE smile plastered on my face. Take a chance and buy Catching the Westbound.

Cheeky Angels!

Cheeky Angels indeed! I found these quirky books about two years ago. Who knew that reading about quirky, cheeky angels with attitude would be so fun? Mimi Barbour's "Angels with Attitude" series was just that! I found "My cheeky Angel" on a website that had a "book party" Mimi's book was one of them. It sounded like a fun read, and so I picked it up. Like most books I gobbled it up pretty fast. It was so fun, and heartwarming that I didn't want to stop reading. After reading the first, I went and got the second in her series. THEN I went and picked up her "Vicarage Bench Series". Oh my goodness! These books are romantic and uplifting, in some cases there is a bit of time travel, but if that's what you are looking for when you need a quick pick-me-up, then these are the stories for you!! I do have to say, that even though they are rather a quick read, and uplifting, there is some deeper message in each and every one. I will let you decide what that is AFTER you read them! :)

Interview with Rachael James

Hello Everyone!

Here is my interview with the ever charming, wonderfully talented, hysterically funny Rachael James.

Welcome Rachael! Thank you so very much for joining me and taking the time to do this interview.

This interview is going to happen in three parts. The first part is an "Author Spotlight" which is just that, questions to learn a little about you, your career goals and current books. The second part I call "Fun Questions" and the third is my favorite: "The Speed Round", those are "anything goes" questions that are fast and you don't have to think too much about. So here we go!

Author Spotlight

Me: Tell us about yourself

RJ: I was born and raised in the Midwest where I still live with my husband, our son, one cat, and one dog. I started writing almost twenty years ago because my husband, then boyfriend, encouraged me to try it. At first, I struggled trying to get the characters and their stories out of my head in a reasonable form, but it has since become my passion. Writing is what I love, and when I am not doing it, I can usually be found doing some form of exercisecycling, lifting weights, or yoga.

Me: What are your current projects?

RJ: I am finishing the last book, A New Queen, in my series Bitches and Queens. The series follows a very non-traditional family. From first kisses to tracking down a turbulent teenager with a little help from a friendly psychopath, this group of characters has experienced it all. A New Queen opens when Hannah Mallory, the family’s ruling matriarch, decides it is time to pass down the reigns. Through all their tears and laughter, each member of this zany family discovers what it means to loveto give love, to receive love, and how to be love.

Me: What comes first when contemplating a new projectthe characters, the plot and/or the title?

RJ: For me, the characters always come first. It is not that different than meeting someone the first time. They start as vague notions determined to make a good first impression. As I spend more time with them, the layers build. Sometimes I work with a strong physical representation in mind but not always. I really believe it is a trust issue. Like any relationship, as the bond grows stronger you begin to let down your guard and let the true light inside of you shines. Eventually, the characters develop a voice and that is the point where I surrender and let them tell me their stories.

Me: Who is your favorite character that you created? And why?

RJ: I love all my characters, but the most fun I’ve ever had working with one of them was with Hannah Fairbanks Mallory. Hannah was wonderfully, deliriously, enchantingly insane. Writing her story was like being given a license to say or do anything that had ever crossed my mindabsolutely NO filter. As much as I truly adored that quality of her, what I came to admire, love, and cherish about Hannah was her fearlessness. Unlike every other character I have ever worked with before, Hannah didn’t come to me vague. Much like the book, she emerged very bold and in-my-face. And first impressionsforget about it. I could hear her piercing screamsI don’t care if you don’t like me. I don’t if you don’t understand me. But you sure as fuck are going to know me. Needless to say, it was quite the experience, but there was something so refreshingly beautiful about her genuineness and brutal honesty. While I was creating her story, often times I felt myself trying to hold back because there are parts that are crazy, but I felt her pushing me forward. Imagine if you will, me sitting at the computer with Hannah sitting beside me ever so lovingly sayingIf I had the courage to tell you my truth then you damn better grow a pair and write it. Anyone that has read her story, Crazy Bitch, could probably also picture her thrashing me over the head with whatever was handy while she was saying it just to make a point.

Me: Do you have advice for other authors just starting out?

RJ: Step 1- Read. Familiarize yourself with your genre of choice. Every genre has a set of rules or protocols that are deemed acceptable.

Step 2- Know yourself. I’m not a huge fan of labels because I feel they are limiting, but in this instance I will make an exception. It is my own personal belief that there are two types of people that chose to make this their professionWriters and Artists. I am not coming at this with any preconceived notion of value. I admire both writers and artists equally. Unfortunately, I have no advice to give because as much as I dont care to admit this, I am not a writer. I have no doubt that my advice on how to perform brain surgery would be just as meaningful and enlightening as what I could contribute on the subject of being a writer. I am an artist. The differences between the two are subtle, but essentially writers write and artists create. Artists take all those rules and protocols and toss them out the window. Artists surrender to their characters, to their stories, to the divine in an attempt to create something worthy. If someone desired words to be their vehicle of expression, my advice would simply be thissit down, turn on the computer, and let go. Now with all that being said, I do believe writers feel very much the same about their work. Perhaps the differences are more apparent in the final outcome. Brilliant writers, those wickedly talented scribes who were put on this planet with the sole purpose of writing, can make you laugh, make you cry, and make you fall in love a hundred times over. While I sincerely hope to be able to achieve all of those things in my work, those goals are secondary. My goal is to leave a lasting impressiongood, bad, vague, or otherwisesome reflection of the truth that I discovered in the momentsomething that can’t always be explained or understood to be appreciated.

Step 3- Write. Whether you are a rebel rule-breaker or prefer to stick to the straight and narrow paths, there is a very good chance that your work will make this world a better place. Let your light shine.

Fun Questions

Me: When you need a break what do you do to recharge?

RJ: When I need to recharge, I exercise. When I am really stressed, I shop online until my hubby comes into the room and confiscates my credit cards.

Me: Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?

RJ: A joyful simpleton any day.

Me: Why are you, you? What sets you apart from other authors?

RJ: I am not sure how to answer this without sounding like an arrogant twat. But, if someone was really curious, I would suggest reading the first chapter of the first book in the series, Hook, Line, and Garter. You will know right away what makes me different.

Me: Do you have any other creative talents?

RJ: Yes, I do. I’ve recently discovered a passion for refurbishing old clothes. Hands down, Goodwill is my favorite store. There is something very satisfying in taking a pair of jeans that were worn by some elderly man and giving them a second life with bleach, distressing, and sparkle.

Me: Any embarrassing moments?

RJ: More than I care to remember.

The Speed Round

Me: Favorite color?

RJ: This changes on daily basis. Today it is pink. Tomorrow, who knows?

Me: Baked or Fried?

RJ: Grilled. Why wasn’t grilled an option?

Me: Favorite movie?

RJ: Anything with Robert Downey Jr.

Me: Thor or Iron Man?

RJ: I refuse to answer this question. In fact, it pains me that it is even on here.

Me: Bath or Shower?

RJ: Shower

Me: Cat or Dog?

RJ: Cat

Thank you so much for coming by! It was great fun! Sorry about the Thor vs Iron Man question. Lol! I had to throw it in there. :)

Fictional Boyfriends

Fictional boyfriends! Who loves them? I sure do! I have one every time I pick up a new book! Sometimes, it's the same boyfriend in a series of books. HA! Talk about getting your money's worth. So what do you guys like when it comes to fictional boyfriends? Dashing men in breeches and long coats? A dominant business man who has "issues" to work through? A bad boy rocker perhaps? Or a studly hero type (firemen, detective etc). Then there are those characters in the paranormal range, vampires and werewolves and even angels (hubba hubba). I happen to love all of them, as my friend would gladly tell you - and informed me recently - that I am a cock junkie, a shameless tart and would probably suck face with many of them. HA!

Now ladies I have to ask, how many of you have wondered if there was a "true" prince charming out there? I am sure for those who are married and are in a loving relationship will look at this and say "I found mine" and that's GREAT! But for those of us who have kissed some frogs along the way and still no prince charming, would you hold out for someone who was a bit like these characters that we all seem to love?

I think, personally, that the "idea" is fine, but in real life it just doesn't cut the cake. They say that there is someone for everyone out there you just have to look for it. But to want someone like these fictional characters is self defeating. The author who writes these men are true genius in that they take a little bit of what everyone would or might like and combine it into one delicious package. Now, am I saying that there might be someone out there like these fictional boyfriends I love so much? Sure. There might be. Since I don't know any high powered CEO's or a heroic fireman, or a rockstar - even though some of my musician friends might disagree with that last statement - or even paranormal beings, I can't be sure that the "perfect guy" is out there.

So readers, who do you think your "perfect other" would be like? Would it be like a character in a book? Which character would you most like to be with? Thoughts?

Having fun with Rachael

I had a total blast making some special pictures for Rachael James today. We talk every day, usually, but today we were having fun posting and pimping her books. :) She is, like me, a novice when it comes to media and self promoting. She doesn't like to do it, so I volunteered to help. I think that it is very important to promote those authors who you enjoy reading. I think the power of "word of mouth" is very underestimated. The more your favorite authors are exposed, the better the chance they have to succeed.

I, unfortunately have seen some authors struggle with book sales because their audience is limited and they are not getting new readers. Some are changing their book covers, some are re-releasing, some are giving their books for free in promos to try and boost their numbers. It boggles my mind to see that. Especially with some of the what I call "popular" authors.

I have a friend who broke down the whole book sales to me. What you pay is NOT what they get on the turn around after everyone gets their little cuts. I was shocked, considering I didn't know about it. So, to me, this is a little bit of what needs to be done for some great authors out there who don't have the fan base, or who can't seem to get the word out. I would like to think that if I could just get ONE person to read a book, enjoy the book, and that person recommends the book to someone else, and so on and so forth that I did my little bit to help. Any one of you can do the same. It doesn't have to be with pretty pictures or blog postings, it could just be a simple "Hey! I read this really great book, and I think you would really enjoy it!". It matters. Every single one of you matters in some way to those authors. Leave a review, talk to your friends, to your co-workers (god knows they are sick of hearing me talk about the books I read), I think it would help.

I didn't mean to get sappy, but hell I had to get that out. So, back to Rachael. I hope you guys had fun looking at the pictures and reading the little blurbs that I added to them. I hope it entices you to go out and try her books! They are great fun! If you missed them, here they are!

Wild for Wilder!

There are so many books that I have found through out the years of reading that have caught my attention. This one author did such that when I found her books and loved them. As much as I loved each and everyone of them for different reasons, there is one that stood out farthest from the rest.

Last year Jasinda Wilder started a series that really brought home the meaning of friendships, loss and survival. Falling into You started the series, but that is not the book I am referring to. Falling into Us was one of my all time favorites from last year. This story is Becca's story. Becca's life changed and was thrust into turmoil by the actions of someone she loved dearly. Jason was there to try and pick up the pieces. He never knew that a broken date and taking a chance on Becca would change his life forever. It goes from their adolosecent awkward years, amazing relationship of "firsts", and becomes something truly extraordinary.

This book was amazingly written, heart wrenching, raw and just beautiful in it's entirety. It brings you into a malestorm of emotions and tidal waves of grief and pure joy. It is truly one of the most amazing books I have read in a long time. The story of these two will leave you completely floored and have you talking about it for years to come. I have recommended this book to everyone I know. It gives me goosebumps just writing this piece because that's what this book does long after you read it. I highly recommend this book to you. If you would like, you can start with the first book to get a sense of this story, but you don't necessarily have to because it stands on it's own two feet. I hope you enjoy it and love it as much as I do.

Enjoy!

My first love.

This, my dear friends is the reason I love books the way I do. This one book caused everything to change. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved to read prior to this book and sometimes you would find me with a Dan Brown Novel, or Stephen King, or whomever caught my fancy at the time.. But one fated trip to the library, one curious woman just poking around, and one treasure to be found later and WHAM! Love at first read. So let's go to the beginning shall we?

One day (as most stories begin) I brought my children to the library. There was really nothing better to do and I think at that time my penchant for movies was at an all time low. So while the kids looked for books to check out I just meandered through the isles looking for something to jump out at me. Back then I did NOT read romance novels. I thought them frivolous and down right boring - who knew? So, back to roaming the isles and nothing really catching my eye, I kept going. I got to the romance section and gave a mighty huff. I think the librarian thought I was going crazy because I kept bypassing the section with my nose in the air. Back and forth I went and I was not going to relent. There was NO way I was going to grab something from the romance section. I even sat on a chair for a while just to people watch. The clock is ticking slowly and so back up I went to see if I could find anything, I thought maybe a biography would be nice. Yeah, OK. So finally I admit defeat and head to the romance section. By this time the librarian was smirking and trying not to laugh at me. Did I tell you guys this was a very small library? Well, it was. So off I go into the "forbidden zone". I start looking around, reading the blurbs on the back of the books to see what catches my eyes. Nothing! Making a slow circuit around the romance department was a bit tough, I have to admit. I look over to my right and there it was. I go over like some magical spell has been cast and I can only think about grabbing the book before someone else snatches it up. Funny thing is that, there weren't many people in the library. So, I grab the book and read the blurb on the back and said to myself "hmmm..." so off we went, back home with a few books and one romance book. Oh good lord, what the hell did I just pick up?!

Some days later, I brought the book with me (at this point I hadn't started it yet) while I waited for my oldest to get out of school. There's not much to do in the car besides listen to music, so I opened the book and started to read... and read... and read...! My son finally came out and I was literally pissed off because he interrupted the story. LOL! Can you imagine?! We all went home, I did my mommy duties and after everyone was in bed I picked up the book again. Holy shit! I finished it in one sitting. That was the beginning of a great love affair with Mrs. Eloisa James. The following week I returned the book and asked the librarian to find me whatever published book she had out at the time and reserve them for me. The poor librarian who was trying really hard not to laugh at me just smiled nicely and assured me she would call me as soon as they arrived. She also pointed out other books that were similar to Eloisa's, but that's another tale for another time.

Needless to say, I have read and re-read her collection. I have also bought each and every one of them in paperback. Yes, the bookstores loved me. I have even bought some paperbacks for friends just to share my love of her with others. The rest is history. She is basically the reason why I am a "reader" to the extent that I am. I will be forever grateful for her presence in my life, even if she doesn't know it. Her books captivated me with every single page. With every single sentence I read, she touched a part of me that I, myself, can't describe. She is one of my all time Historical Romance favorites and I thank her so very much for her gift. My love for her and her writing will be ever lasting. I know, I sound like a sap. :)

If you haven't read historical romance before, she is one to definitely pick up. The picture above is the third book from her "Pleasures" Trilogy. It can be read as a stand alone, but to get the true effect of the people involved in the story, I recommend that you read it from book 1. The rest of her books are just simply AMAZING and I still collect them on paperback form. I look forward to each and every one of her new releases like a child would look forward to a present at Christmas time!

Enjoy!

Interview with Morgan Fox

Welcome to my FIRST interview with the one and only Morgan Fox! I am so excited (having a total fan girl moment)!! Whom better to interview than this lovely lady right here?!

Thank you Morgan for joining me today!

So this is how it's going to work. I will ask the author some questions about themselves and their current work and/or new releases in the "Author Spotlight" then some "Fun questions" and then the "Speed Round" (my favorite) where anything goes! Got it? Good! Here goes... Enjoy!

Author Spotlight

Me: Tell us about yourself.

MF: I’m a full time erotic romance author and I’ve been published for a few years with Siren Bookstrand in Texas. A friend pointed me in the direction of this up and coming publisher (Siren) and I wrote Seduced by the Moon for them AND lucky for me they loved it. The rest is history with 12 books and 1 novella later.

Me: What made you chose to write erotic literature in particular? And is there any other genre you’d like to write?

MF: I love writing contemporary and paranormal erotic romances and I’m going to stick with it. There’s something enjoyable about writing exactly what you want and not holding back on the passion the characters are feeling. I don’t have to tiptoe around a scene – I can go balls to the wall and love every moment. I write books with a strong plot filled with conflict and romance. My characters are flawed, but find their happily ever after. What’s better than that? To me, nothing.

Me: What inspired you to write your first book?

MF: The desire to be published was what inspired me to write Seduced by the Moon, my first book. After having lunch with a friend and talking about Siren looking for new talent, the gears in my head were turning at warp speed. On the way home, I plotted out the story. I had initially wanted to release Seduced by the Moon and Tempted by the Moon as one book, but ultimately it was split into two. Just the excitement of submitting something new and fresh to Siren was enough to get the Moonlight Shifters series to emerge.

Me: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

MF: I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by some amazing authors. Shayla Black, Addison Fox, Liliana Hart, Kallyspo Masters, Heather Rainer, C.J. Ellisson – all these authors have inspired me and helped guide me on the journey that no author should travel alone.

Me: What are your current projects?

MF: I’m currently working on Forgotten Temptation, book 5 in the Texas Stallions series. AND another series of novella’s that’s still in the plotting stages. (Top Secret)

Me: Can you share a little of your current work with us?

MF: In Discovering Temptation, book 1 in the Texas Stallions series we are introduced to the Boyd brothers – 3 sexy cowboys who have ranching in their blood. In book 5 we are introduced to a new character, a mysterious man claiming to have connections to the family—brotherly connections. The Boyd brothers are forced to question the only living family member possibly harboring answers—their mother. But it’s not until a sweet, little Texas spitfire from one of the brother’s pasts shows up that things really get interesting.

Me: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

MF: This week my favorite author is Jaci Burton. I love her. She’s not only talented and wonderful, but her style of writing is amazing. I’m head-over-heals in love with her Play-by-Play series. Never have sex, love and sports ever gone together so nicely.

Me: Where and/or how do you find the greatest inspiration?

MF: Inspiration can come from anywhere at any time. I often bring a note pad or a device (phone/tablet) with me so that I can write down those little moments that eventually evolve into one of my stories. I have a laundry list of stories to write and sadly I might not get to them all.

Me: What appears first when contemplating a new project: A character, the plot and/or the title?

MF: I’ve started a project with a title, character and/or plot before. Each book is different. Most times I visualize the characters and situations they find themselves in. Then I plot out the storyline. Other times I’ve had a title pop into my head that I thought sounded cool and the story evolved that way. It all depends on the situation and what’s happening in my life at that time.

Me: Who is your favorite character, which you’ve created? And why?

MF: I love Lydia Lockhart from Zombie Seduction. Lydia was based off of a friend of mine (you might know her). Anyway, she has the heart of a lion and a passion for love that truly runs soul deep. Writing her was easy and it came natural, most likely because I based her character off someone I actually knew and cared for. But what made Lydia stand out to me was her love of Tristian. Her treasured belief in him and the passion she possessed to save his life. There is something so powerful about a person willing to sacrifice themselves for the one they love.

Me: Tell us about your newest release.

MF: Forbidden Temptation (Texas Stallion 4) Here is a little treat for the readers.

Blurb: Catherine Garrett has lived with the dark cloud of past mistakes looming over her head for too long. But after surviving a tragic accident, she finally has a chance to start her life over—alone. So when she comes face to face with a mouthwatering, blue-eyed Texas rancher, of course she's more than freaked out. She’s speechless.

For years, Cooper Boyd has longed for a relationship that lasted longer than the night. Watching both his brothers marry, he can’t shake the desire burning in his heart to find a love of his own.

Leaving Temptation is his only option—until a mysterious brunette unexpectedly pulls him into her grasp.

Their instant attraction is explosive, sensual and irresistible.  But when Catherine’s terrifying past catches up to her, the love they crave suddenly comes crashing down around them.

Excerpt: The sun warmed Catherine’s skin as she lay in the plush green field that smelled of fresh-cut flowers. Peaceful. That was how she felt as she listened closely, hearing the sound of cascading water. Instantly, she knew it was coming from her favorite spring. The place he had seen her naked.
Cooper…

Catherine opened her eyes and smiled as she caught sight of Cooper’s gentle blue eyes gazing down at her. His strong masculine body hovered over her and she knew he was hesitant to let the weight of his body crush down upon her. She couldn’t fight the yearning that played with her heart, consumed her mind. She was starting to thoroughly enjoy her time with her sexy cowboy and prayed they would have more afternoons like the one they shared now.

Cooper cupped her face, his fingers dipping into her unbound hair. With a moan, she closed her eyes, the warmth of his touch seeping into her skin. Then, she felt the tender press of his lips against hers. She gasped, momentarily startled by the delicious feel of his mouth. Within a heartbeat, she relaxed and enjoyed the sensual caress of his kiss, the gentle exploration of his wondering and tantalizingly wicked tongue.

Another moan parted from her throat as he moved over her lips with exquisite care, loving her mouth in a way that had her toes curling and her eyes rolling back in her head. When he placed tender kisses to her chin and cheeks, she rolled her hips in appreciation. She wrapped her arms around him, pulling the heavy weight of his body down upon her. He supported the weight of his body on his elbows, keeping his mouth busy with hers.

She was lost in passions she never realized she craved, a need that was almost blinding. Her heart pounded like a chugging train, her body hot and hungry. She explored his body, finding the edge of his shirt. She slipped her fingers up under the fabric and shivered as the warmth of his skin on hers began turning her blood to molten lava.

His alluring mouth slid along the column of her neck, collarbone, and breasts. His greedy kisses had her writhing in his arms, begging and pleading he’d never stop. She didn’t care about the outside world, where they were, or who could see them. All she cared about was Cooper and the passions they were discovering together. Nothing else mattered.

Cooper positioned himself between her legs, opening the buttons of her blouse, shoving the shirt from her body. He unfastened her bra, slipping the material up over her breasts. The crisp, warm air sent a wild shiver along the flesh of her body as he nibbled on the sensitive skin and hardened peaks. She squirmed under the suction of his mouth, the pressure almost too much. Her hands came up to grip his head, holding him in place. The seductive way he licked and sucked her had the air fleeing from her lungs in a hurried frenzy.

He rose up to kiss her lips once more, before rising above her to slide her jeans and panties from her legs. She shimmied out of the material in one, gentle tug. Moisture, warm and silky, pooled between her legs. Then, before she could take another breath, Cooper was positioned between her legs, his own body bare for her greedy, heat-seeking hands. She gripped the firm globes of his ass, massaging up past his waist and back. The firmness of his body was a reflection of his strength. An innocent sigh escaped her as she realized how close she was to finally having him, all of him. Never had she wanted something more.

Cooper’s uncompromising hands glided over her skin, starting at her outer thighs, caressing up to her hips and waist. He held her close and with the power of his own legs spread her legs wider. He teased his length up and down, stroking her clit in wicked, teasing pulses. A fluttering gasp rushed from her lungs as his cock penetrated her pussy. The tight fit had her moaning, writhing, and greedy for more.

Cooper felt perfect as he pumped his hips slowly, rocking forward and back, driving deeper and deeper. She locked gazes with him as he surged his hips forward. She drank in his desire-filled gaze, loving the way he touched her, teased her. He was driving her insane and she couldn’t get enough.

He lowered himself so that his warm breath dipped into her ear, his whiskered cheek pressed against her smooth, delicate skin. She felt passions unlike anything she ever dreamed bloom out from within her. She couldn’t stop the desire to touch him, squeeze his body against hers.

Cooper had captured her from the moment she’d first met him. Even if she hadn’t been able to admit it until now, she would never be able to break the bond that so naturally formed between them. As he held her, kissed her, loved her, she was becoming whole again.

Fun Questions:

Me:
When you need a break, what do you do to recharge?

MF: Watch the shows I once loved but suddenly have little time for. Thank goodness for recaps and DVR’s.

Me: What’s the one thing you can't write without?

MF: A cup of coffee or iced tea.

Me: If you could choose anywhere in the world to set up your desk and write, where would you like it to be?

Me: Who is on your "keeper" shelf?

MF: Everyone I’ve ever read. I don’t recycle books and I still buy paperbacks/hardbacks. I’m not much of an eReader user.

Me: Are you reading anything currently?

MF: I’m devouring the Play-by-Play series by Jaci Burton. Then I’m going to jump into her Hope series.
