Unexpected Happiness

Book Description: Lady Rebecca didn’t expect to meet the future Duke of Stamford the day she was told she was to marry him, but that’s exactly what happened. Traveling alone, she determines the man is probably old and ugly and she will have nothing to do with this arrangement.

Sexy Lord Nathaniel is neither old nor ugly but he is no happier about the arrangement than Rebecca though he does find her alluring. Forced into the marriage by his grandfather, he can do nothing but accede to the old man’s wishes.

Rebecca has to curb her willful ways to function in her new position and her husband-to-be is more than willing to use a firm hand to discipline his lady, though doing so leaves them both wanting more.

Their inauspicious beginnings do not bode well but time shows them that often the heart follows where the body leads and they discover unexpected happiness in their union.

A Romantica® historical erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

I received an Arc from the author in exchange for an honest review.

When I received a copy of this story I was really (and I do mean REALLY) excited because it had the two genre's that I absolutely love. Historical Romance and Erotic Romance. This book had the best of both worlds. I was in complete book heaven; not to mention, the author is absolutely delightful, and an incredible writer! *insert happy sigh here* I always look forward to reading her work!

Miss Rebecca gets shipped off to marry some Lord that she has never met and decides on her way there, that she will try to do everything to get out of it. Heaven knows, I would too! When she arrives at his home she is welcomed by the Lord's grandfather (one of my favorite characters in this book) and she thought she was right to try and get out of this marriage deal. That is, until she sees Nathaniel. Oh lord, he's one hot piece of man..

Nathaniel is NOT a happy camper when his grandfather tells him that he has arranged a marriage for him. But because he is the heir, he needs to have a wife. He does make it known to both his grandfather and Rebecca that even though he doesn't like the arrangement, he will go along with it, but he does try to distance himself from it and from her....

The marriage does happen, and you think everything will be alright, correct? Nope. Nathaniel is as distant as ever, and Rebecca sure knows how to vocalize it. Nathaniel, the devilish rogue that he is, has his way of making Rebecca "behave".

There are a lot of other things going on in this book which I will not mention, because I do not want to give anything away. But the cast of characters are all charming and you feel like you want to get to know them, some more than others. I did have a love/hate (more love than hate) relationship with Nathaniel at times, but it all worked out in the end. Miss James' writing is like a breath of fresh air, not only in the eroticism department (which was nicely done), her witty dialog, but also in the tear jerking moments. There is a certain genuine warmth to the characters that had me sighing at certain times and wanting to rip my hair out with frustration in others. This is a great book for fans of both Historical Romance and Erotic Romance. I applaud the author for doing such a marvelous job!

There is a character in the book who is remarkably charming, and pops up in a couple of scenes. I wonder if Miss James will write a book about him! I would love it. *hint, hint* :)

5 Stars for this wonderful book!
